Introduction:
These are the instructions for St. John's members and others to use the email system from ChurchPost. ChurchPost will allow the leaders of a St. John's ministry or committee (Group in ChurchPost speak) to send out emails to members of their ministry and, if desired, to other persons interested in the ministry.  The goal is to allow better communication between the leaders of a ministry and their members.  This is a proactive way to send information to the Subscribers.  ChurchPost complements the passive communication through the writing of a web page by the leader which provides information that is always available for a member to access.
The members of the ministry will receive the mail at their preferred email address.  The leaders of the Groups can add subscribers to the Group's email list. If the decision is to restrict subscribers to members of the ministry then the leader can delete non-members who try to subscribe to the Group.
The process for getting on a Group's email list is either:
o   Subscribe Yourself- using the Get Connected Form.
o   Leader Subscribe - to have the leader add you to the email list for a given ministry.

Subscribe Yourself Using Get Connected Form:
To subscribe yourself to a Group (i.e., ministry or committee) or Groups:
o  Click-on the Get Connected Form link to a separate web page.
o  Enter your First Name, Last Name, and email address twice.
o  Click-on "My Groups" to get a list of the Groups to which you can Subscribe (i.e., join).
o  Check those on the list to which you want to Subscribe by clicking-on the box for each.
o  You can get a brief description of a group by mousing-over the name of the Group.
o  After making your selections, click-on the [Update Subscriptions] button.
o  This will take you to a web page that notes that you will receive an email with the subscription changes and that you must click-on the "please click here" link to confirm your changes.
o  After confirming your changes you will get an email from the current leader of each Group to which you subscribed.
o  Note: If a Group decides to restrict emails to the members of the Group (e.g., committee or ministry) then you can not join the Group and your email connection to the Group will be cancelled.

Leader Subscribes You to the Group:
Once the leader of a ministry/Group has your name and email address, she can add you as a Subscriber to her Group.  She can get your email from:
  a.  The Church's list of email addresses,
  b.  The Subscriber list in ChurchPost if you are a subscriber to another Group,
  c.  A request for your email in a ministry meeting.
  d.  An email request by you to the leader or the  Webmaster to be added to a Group.
Keep in mind that Groups (i.e., ministries) may have different restrictions:
o  Restricted only to members of the Group, e.g., the Vestry, or
o  Restricted only to Registered Users of the St. John's website, or
o  Restricted only to members of St. John's Parish, or
o  Unrestricted, i.e., any one interested in the ministry can join whether a member of St. John's or not.
If you do not want to continue in a Group, each email from the leader will contain an "Unsubscribe immediately" link at the bottom. This link will take you to a page where you not only can unsubscribe from any or all groups, you can block any future emails from ChurchPost.
If you have any questions please email the Webmaster or call John Tower at 248-548-4594.
