Sunday School & Adult Ed starts Sept. 19
    Sunday School starts at 9:15 am on Sept. 19. For more info click-on Sunday School. The Sunday morning Adult Ed starts at 9:15 am on Sept. 19 and will start with four videos from the NOOMA series. Looking For Work (LFW) Group Meets Mon. at 8:30 am
    The Looking for Work (LFW) group provides support for those who are unemployed or underemployed and normally meets in the library on Monday mornings at 8:30. All folks looking for work are invited to attend the meetings. More information is available on the LFW Facebook page.

Stephen Ministry at St. John's
    St. John's Stephen Ministry will have a weekend retreat Sept. 24-25 to start lay pastoral care training. If you are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister, please email The Rev. Mom2Mom Sale Sat. Oct. 2 at St. John's
     The St. John's Mom2Mom sale is set for Sat. Oct. 2 from 9 am to 1 pm. For more info on the sale and to rent a table click-on St. John's Mom2Mom Sale. We need volunteers to setup Fri., staff the sale, and tear down on Sat. Please contact Angela Freeman if you can help.    

Events Leading to AIDS Walk Detroit Sept. 19th
    This year's AIDS Walk Detroit will be held in Royal Oak on Sept. 19th. The next event leading to the AIDS Walk is a Steppin' beverage booth at the 4th and Washington at the Royal Oak Arts, Beats and Eats Fri. 9/3 to Mon. 9/6. Come out and volunteer for a shift or just show up and enjoy some beverages. A portion of the sales will be given to our organization. Corvette Club Dream Cruise Donation:
    The America's Corvette Club members that used the St. John's parking lot on Wed. evening Aug. 18 during Dream Cruise week donated enough food for the Open Hands Food Pantry to fill up the St. John's garage and they also were most generous with cash donations. Vacation Bible School Pictures
    We have some pictures from the wonderful 2010 Vacation Bible School at St. John's. Click-on Vacation Bible School for the first batch and we will be adding more over the next few days.

St. John's Stained Glass Windows Exposed
     Richard Leslie, Parish Historian and Dresser of Stained Glass Windows, is writing a set of articles on the church's stained glass windows for the next few issues of News & Views.  To enhance you enjoyment of these articles Richard's pictures of these windows will be loaded on the St. John's website and linked to his articles. To access the articles with links to the pictures and the pictures themselves click-on Stained Glass Windows. Currently the Office Stain Glass and East Trancept Apex Windows are featured.

New To You Resale Shop Closed for the Summer
    The New To You Resale Shop is closed for the summer.  It will reopen on Tue. Sept 7th. During the normal shop season from Sept. 7, 2010 to June 24, 2011 the shop is open Mon-Fri 10 am to 4:30 pm, Mon 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and Sat. 10 am to 1 pm. 
The shop takes donations and goods on consignment. For more information click on the "New To You Resale Shop" item to the left or call the manager, Kathy Williams, at 248-546-1722 after the shop reopens Sept. 7th, 2010, during normal business hours.
